• Whether quality text and photo content is supplied, or if it is being created from scratch

• Any custom functionality required (i.e. interactivity, custom coded features)

Payment of the website is generally split in halves or thirds:

• A deposit prior to commencing the work

• Final balance paid upon completion and prior to launching your website

• Custom arrangements are available for larger or non-urgent projects (i.e. monthly, ongoing work)

Generally, the more quality text and photo content you supply, the more affordable (and better looking) your website will be.

Supplying content enables us to focus strictly on crafting the website instead of writing text from scratch, licensing stock images etc. It also results in a much better final product.

It could take the same amount of time and money to create two websites, but the one with photos from a photographer, text from a copywriter etc will always look better and leave an impression.

Yes, the two primary ongoing costs are website hosting and your domain name registration.

Website Hosting:

• This is "what keeps the lights on". While seemingly virtual, your website is built from files hosted on a computer somewhere and that takes power and internet to run.

• In most cases, this hosting includes all security updates, backups and technical maintenance of your website.

• This pricing can differ between hosting providers and whether your website is a standard website or an online store.

• It is often cheaper to pay annually than it is to pay monthly.

Domain Name Registration:

• This is the name people type into an address bar to visit your website (i.e. www.example.org).

• Domain names are leased through a wide variety of registrars and are regulated by an international authority (ICANN).

• While they cannot be purchased to own outright, you can pre-pay several years in advance

• If you have an existing e-mail address with a personalised name (for instance, fred@example.org), you may already have a domain name for your website

• We use trusted registrars known for their local support in your country and extremely competitive pricing.

• We often register domain names on behalf of our clients. When we do, we ensure YOU are the registered owner, and YOU have full control over your domain name.

Optional Additional Costs:

• If custom features are required, an ongoing fee may be charged for hosting of the feature and/or access to third party services

• We recommend active, ongoing monitoring to ensure your website continues to be found by people online, remains relevant and continues to look fresh. Doing this ensures you're always ahead of the game and can delay or even avoid the need to rebuild your website years down the track.

Yes, but we think it's often a quick way to make your website look ugly.

We apologise for being blunt, but allow us to explain.

Firstly, when a website is built and paid for, the design and development becomes your property.

We retain access to the website and offer support where needed, but it is yours to do as you please.

That said, there are very few times we've seen a professionally created website receive "artistic license" from the owner and it look good or better than previously.

When we create and work on websites, there are several factors kept in mind - technical, marketing, visual, accessibility and more. We're familiar with all of these components (as we should be), and rarely see all of them preserved when an owner jumps into a professionally built website and starts chopping and changing bits and pieces.

If you need the odd photo swapped out or price updated on your website, we're generally happy to do it at no charge. If it's more demanding or regular, we can offer ongoing website management.

We would much rather be engaged to grow, expand and improve the website than to go back and fix things, and this is the arrangement we prefer to have with our clients.
